EMPO Training & Consultancy Services.

EMPO trains humanitarian and development practitioners in Myanmar. Project Cycle Management. Core Humanitarian Standard. MEAL. Field-grade, not classroom-grade.

We work with country offices, national NGOs, faith-based networks and the staff of large INGOs who can't take a week off to fly to a workshop. We've trained cohorts in Yangon, Mandalay and at partner sites across Myanmar.

How it started

We built a humanitarian portal because we needed one.

The first version of this portal ran inside a Myanmar humanitarian NGO we were supporting. We needed somewhere their country team, partners and donors could see the same MEAL data without emailing spreadsheets at midnight.

We tried the open frameworks. They are good tools. But every one of them needed a quarter of work before a country office could actually use it — modelling the indicators, importing the staff, drawing the org chart, configuring leave calendars, building the dashboards. We ended up doing that work anyway, then doing it again for the next partner, then again for the one after that.

So we packaged it. 235 humanitarian indicators. The Project DPro toolkit. RACI, organogram, change-control, safeguarding. Six field-reporting types. Multi-tenant. EN + MY today, three more languages next. The original portal stayed live for its client; EMPOBase is the SaaS we built so the next country office could skip the quarter.

The original portal continues to operate as a single-tenant deployment for its client. EMPOBase is its commercial sibling, run by EMPO Training & Consultancy Services.

Talk to the people who actually run this.

15 minutes, no slide deck. We'll show you the portal with real data and tell you honestly whether it fits your country office.
